What does my participation to the Impact Trophy includes?

As participant you have access to the co-working space, access to all needed working material, food and beverage all along the program (breakfast and lunch), mentoring, coaching and workshops. Please note it does NOT include accommodation, transport and parking.

What language will be used during the event?

The main language used during the program will be English in order to ensure a proper understanding of all international and national profiles. However, feel free to pitch your idea in French or Dutch, if you feel more comfortable in doing so. In the same spirit, each team can choose to work in English, French or Dutch during the program, according to the team members' preferences.

What should I bring to the event?

Your laptop and charger, your favorite working material (paper, notebook, pen...) and lots of creative energy!

Can I leave during the 3 days?

No. Everyone who attends the event is expected to participate all three days (nights are NOT included!). This is important not only to preserve the ‘vibe’ of the experience but also to minimize distractions and disruptions for working teams.

The concept of the Impact Trophy

Who are the organizers?

The Impact Trophy is organized by Impact Valley, a Brussels-based social innovation agency. This second edition is organized in collaboration with Hu-Bu and the Be Planet Foundation.

What if my company doesn’t have a specific environmental challenge to work on?

In this case, your employees will have to solve a concrete problem proposed by a selected association. With their professional skills and experience, your employees will help the association to develop a sustainable and innovative solution that meets their needs.

Contact us! We will reflect together on societal issues most relevant to your sector and will analyze for you the various possible ways to improve your environmental impact.

How are the partner associations selected?

The associations participating in the Impact Trophy are selected by the Be Planet Foundation, Hu Bu and Impact Valley. They participation will be based on a submission dossier.

How to compose my team for the Impact Trophy?

The ideal team will be composed by members with multi-disciplinary profiles (communication, CSR, engineer, marketing, finance, process...) and completed by 2 people from the Sustainability Partner.

3 options to create your team (Maximum 10 members by team) :

1. An internal team of 5 to 10 motivated employees [Symbole] Focus on team-building and talent development;

2. A mixed team of motivated employees and members of your Sustainability Partner [Symbole] Focus on knowledge sharing and cross-sector innovation);

3. A mixed team of motivated employees + members of your Sustainability Partner + members of your ecosystem (supplier, customer…) [Symbole] Focus on the development of your sustainable ecosystem

What is a Super Hero?

The Super Hero is an “innovation expert” provided by Impact Valley and assigned to each team. He will play the role of community manager on the platform, feed the participants with relevant insights and even share ideas to show the example. The Super Hero will then be physically with you all along the program to facilitate collective intelligence, leverage the innovation technics and screen the business needs of the team.

Do I have to pitch an idea?

No, but we encourage you to! You can pitch an idea you've been sharing on the platform or something last minute you think of during the event. It's a great experience and invaluable practice for public speaking. Keep in mind that the purpose will be to share ideas among your own team and not with the whole audience, until the final pitching session.

What are the expected deliverables of the program?

At the end of the program, we expect from each team to deliver 3 main things: a good presentation and pitch, a working prototype (which can have different forms, depending on your solution) and a business model canvas completed. You will have 5 minutes to pitch your solution and 5 minutes to answer the questions of the jury members. They will judge your project based on 4 criteria: the business viability, the technical feasibility, the user desirability and of course, considering our thematic, the potential impact on society.

Will my idea be protected by any IP document?

No. There is no formal protection for IP by the organizers at the Impact Trophy since the objective is to offer your idea to the selected NGO at the end. You will thus not be allowed to request any compensation for this.

How to use the platform?

What is the role of the platform within this program?

The platform is an open innovation software that enables users to interact in a very user-friendly way prior a physical hackathon. The goal is to allow future participants to view others’ profiles, upload inspiring pieces of information, test traction of their concepts and react on others’ ideas.

How can I join my team online?

Your team has a private online space that you can access via the button “My team” under your profile (top right corner in the header). You will also be invited to join this space when receiving the confirmation email.

Who can see my ideas?

The access to your online space is limited to registered users that you can find on the right side of the space. Other users will not be able to view any shared content.

When do I receive notification?

Every notification will be accessible on the top right corner, next to your profile. You will be notified when you are accepted to enter the creative space, when there is a new idea posted and when someone react (like and comment) on the ideas that you post. You can always adapt the settings of your notification by managing your account online (just click on your picture on the top right corner of the header).

Where can I find the innovation toolkit?

On a regular basis, your Super Hero will upload the toolkit with the innovation technics in the virtual space. There will be accessible via the button “toolkit” on the top right corner of your space.

How long is the platform accessible?

The website will remain always online but your virtual space will be closed as soon as the event will finish (a few days later).
